Subsonic Privacy Policy

Subsonic respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Subsonic collects and uses your information.

Collection of your information

Profile information

Information about your user accounts, including usernames and passwords, are only stored on your local server and are not collected by or accessible to us.

For Subsonic Premium users, the associated email address and license key are stored by us, as well as a transaction log of all payments (not including credit card numbers or bank account information).

Metadata and statistics

Information about your media files is only stored on your local server and is not collected by or accessible to us.

Associated Subsonic server information

We may store information about your Subsonic server. This includes the version, IP address and port number, and the (optional) ***.subsonic.org address it uses. We store this information to enable you to access the Subsonic server from a remote location.

Voluntarily provided information

You may send us logs, metadata, or other information about your devices and media for the purpose of resolving an issue you may have with the software. Such information will only be used to help resolve your issue.

Automatically collected technical information

Like many online services, the subsonic.org web site uses Google Analytics to monitor and analyze web traffic and can be used to keep track of user behavior.

Google Analytics is a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. Google utilizes the data collected to track and examine the use of this web site, to prepare reports on its activities and share them with other Google services. Google may use the Data collected to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network.

Use of your information

We use the collected information to provide you with the service, improve the service, enhance your user experience, and communicate with you.

For example, we may use your profile information to resend your license key, or contact you about your account.

We will not share your information with any third parties, except in the following limited situations:

  • With affiliates that assist us in providing you with our services, such as payment processors and cloud service providers, but we will require our affiliates to only use or disclose your information for the purposes of providing the services requested of them and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
  • If we believe that the disclosure is reasonably necessary to (a) satisfy an applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request; (b) detect, prevent, or otherwise address illegal or suspected illegal activities; or (c) protect the safety, rights, or property of Subsonic, the public, or any person.
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, dissolution, reorganization, or similar transaction or other proceeding involving Subsonic that includes or requires the transfer of the information.
  • If your information is a part of a set of non-private, aggregated, or otherwise non-personal information, such as aggregated usage statistics.

Third-party services

Some features of Subsonic uses third-party services, for example Last.fm to find related artists and top songs. In these cases, the information sent to the third-party services does not include any personal data, but they will include your IP address.

Privacy policy changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. We will notify you of any changes to our Privacy Policy by posting the new Privacy Policy on the Subsonic website. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes.
